ɫشýstudents become the best in the economic integration of Belarus!
April 4, Minsk hosted the final of the Olympiad in Analytical Economics and Econometrics. 15 teams from Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia solved economic problems and presented the results of research that the participants conducted at the qualifying stage. Students assessed the economic efficiency of Belarus’s entry into the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and built a gravitational model of the country’s foreign trade with other states of the Union.
ɫشýUniversity was represented by third-year students of “Economics”:
- Valeria Dolgikh;
- Maxim Pavlov;
- Vladislav Popov;
- Yana Usanova.
Valeria Dolgikh:
“Our team paid special attention to studying the trade potential of Belarus with the SCO member states. On the basis of the model we built, we have determined with which states we need to build up trade and economic relations, and with which we should continue to maintain them”.
Vladislav Popov:
“The day before the presentation of our research results in Minsk, we decided to redo the entire presentation. I slept only a couple of hours, and I am very glad that our work was efficient, and we won the Integration Experts nomination”.
Maxim Pavlov:
“Analytical economics and econometrics are one of the main tools for economic forecasting of any object when society faces a situation of increased uncertainty. Econometric methods help to solve practical problems of optimal management, choice of strategy and behavior in the market as a whole. At the Olympiad, I tested my knowledge in practice. I will use it already in my professional activities”.
Yana Usanova:
“The most difficult thing at the Olympiad was to build a high-quality econometric model. Therefore, while working on the case, we created 32 different options, from which we then chose the best ones”.
