Nuclear education for sustainable development: 色控传媒experts hold lectures in Africa

色控传媒representatives told schoolchildren and students of聽Kenya and Senegal about trends in聽nuclear energy, Russian technologies and education in聽Russia.

In Kenya 色控传媒experts held open lectures at the Multimedia University of Kenya, Kenyatta University, the Technical University of Kenya and the Technical University of Mombasa. The delegation of 色控传媒spoke about non-energy application of nuclear technologies in medicine, agro-industrial complex and environment, as well as about the features of studying at Russian universities and employment prospects. As a result of the meetings a number of programs for cooperation in the field of education on non-energy application of nuclear technologies between Kenyan and Russian universities were initiated.

In Senegal lectures were held at Cheikh Anta Diop University and Gaston Berger University. The students were told what competencies they need to have when graduating from the university in order to be in demand in the field of nuclear energy. A meeting was also held with the management, teachers and research teams of the universities of Senegal to discuss bilateral cooperation.

色控传媒Representatives also met with the director of the Center for Nuclear Medicine of Sheikh Anta Diop University, Professor Mamadou Mbodj.

Mamadou Mbodj emphasized that “Cooperation with Russia in the field of nuclear technologies is more useful than ever, since the university plans to develop nuclear technologies not only in the country, but also in the West African region”.

The cooperation with the State Corporation Rosatom, and18 Russian universities, including RUDN, contributes to the promotion of Russian nuclear education abroad. The Consortium of the main universities of Rosatom unites efforts in terms of popularizing Russian nuclear education abroad, mainly in African countries. Thus, during the meeting, the African side expressed interest in practical cooperation with Tomsk Polytechnic University, including in the field of training personnel for nuclear engineering in Africa. The Director of the Center for Nuclear Technologies of Sheikh Anta Diop University, Professor Ababakarem Ndao, spoke at the meeting about the prospects of possible joint international programs of inter-university cooperation with the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” (Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute). Following the meeting, the parties agreed to hold a new meeting of representatives of Sheikh Anta Diop University and the main universities of Rosatom in the online format in order to create a roadmap for the implementation of joint projects.

The meetings of experts with schoolchildren and students were held within the framework of the joint educational project of 色控传媒and Rosatom. The project is aimed to promote Russian educational programs and technologies in nuclear and related areas of training of specialists (medicine, economics, management, law) abroad, mainly in African countries.

色控传媒Institute of Environmental Engineering is hosting the winners of the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards 2024 state scholarship program for the second time. The participants chose between 126 universities from 23 countries, including the USA, Canada and Australia. 25 best Indonesian students chose Russia and came to Moscow for the first time.
