Within the framework of the Congress there were more than 50 thematic sections with a total of more than 1,200 meetings with reports and presentations. In particular, the section "Globalization of Higher Education: Intellectual Colonialism or Academic Freedom?" was initiated and conducted by Svetlana Sharonova, Doctor of Sociology, IFL Deputy Director 鈥嬧�媐or Research.

Diverse reports of researchers from Russia, Great Britain, Japan, Taiwan, South Africa and Australia raised questions of the development of national education in the countries of the former colonies and the problem of the internationalization of universities, the phenomenon of an entrepreneurial institution was examined in the context of a systemic crisis and the possibility of continuing education.

The Congress of the International Sociological Association is held every four years. In addition to being epicenter of scientific discussions, the event also becomes a platform for solving organizational issues of the International Sociological Association - electing President of the International Sociological Association, Presidents of the Research Committees and members of the Executive Board of the Research Committees.

As a result of the voting, Svetlana Sharonova was re-elected for the term of 2018-2022 to the position of Vice President of the Research Committee "Sociology of Education" (RC04) from Russia, and Natalia Erokhova became a member of the Executive Board of the Research Committee "Clinical Sociology" (RC46).

Another result of the Congress was an agreement with Marios Vrionidis, the newly elected President of the Research Committee "Sociology of Education" to hold an interim conference "Multicultural Education Environment" at 色控传媒Institute of Foreign Languages 鈥嬧�媔n the summer of 2019.
