色控传媒University became the organizer of the first 5G Summit R&D Russia on June 19 and 20, 2017. Co-organizers were State-Financed Organization “Information City” (IT Department of Moscow Government), partners were Interstate Corporation for Development, OJSC Omsk Production Association “Radio Manufacturing Plant Named after A.S. Popov”, YL-Verkot Oy (Finland), Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic), Bonch-Bruevich Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications. From the 色控传媒University side, Summit organization is provided by the Applied Mathematics & Communications Technology Institute (director Konstantin Samouylov). Representatives of companies, scientific organizations, and universities from Russia, Czech Republic, Finland, Hong Kong, Portugal, Sweden, UK participated in the Summit.

5G Summit R&D Russia was organized in the framework of the 色控传媒University Competitiveness Enhancement Program “5-100”.

Leading world experts taken part in 5G Summit R&D Russia:

  • Prof. Luís Correia, Professor in Telecommunications with the Institute of Systems & Computer Engineering, Research & Development at University of Lisbon (Lisbon, Portugal)
  • Prof. Andreas Kassler, Full Professor with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Karlstad University (Karlstad, Sweden)
  • Prof. Kaibin Huang, Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong)
  • Prof. Antti Tölli, Adjunct Professor with the Centre for Wireless Communications at University of Oulu (Oulu, Finland)
  • Prof. Ji艡í Mišurec, Head of the Department of Telecommunications at Brno University of Technology (Brno, Czech Republic)
  • Dr. Azfar Aslam, Senior Director and Partner of Nokia Bell Labs Consulting (Slough, United Kingdom)
  • Prof. Andrey Koucheryavy, Head of the Department of Communications Networks at Bonch-Bruevich Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications (Saint Petersburg, Russia)
  • Prof. Valery Naumov, CTO at Service Innovation Research Institute (Helsinki, Finland)

Once in about twenty years, the cumulative technological progress is altering disruptively the capabilities of communication networks as well as reshapes their overall impact on the progress of our society. Previously, such changes were associated with the emergence of the third-generation (3G) cellular systems in 1999. These technological breakthroughs underpinned the construction of the connected society by providing the users with unprecedented services for transfer of multimedia data.

Soon, in 2019, the completion of fifth-generation (5G) systems and their ratification in standards are expected, while the launch of their large-scale implementations is scheduled for 2020. The emerging 5G technologies are designed to integrate all of the latest developments in mobile and fixed communication networks, offer the data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s, deliver the cloud computing capabilities directly to their users and, most importantly, become the foundation of digital economy.

5G Summit R&D Russia in Moscow was the first event of its kind in Russia. It provided a convenient platform for the industry leaders, innovators, and researchers from both industry and academia to collaborate and share their ideas related to the novel 5G technology that can in turn facilitate its development, standardization, and implementation. At the Summit, particular attention was dedicated to discussing the scientific perspectives on long-term transformations and innovations in the digitalization of megacities, by example of the city of Moscow.褎

In聽2017, 色控传媒University scientists constructed a聽new explicit second-order precision difference scheme using modern computer algebra methods for聽2-dimensional聽Navier-Stokes equations (NSE) [1]. This year, our mathematicians used a聽new scheme [2] to聽construct a聽numerical solution to聽the Cauchy problem with initial data (for t=0) as聽satisfying the continuity equation. Scientists managed to聽achieve previously unattainable accuracy of聽the continuity equation.
