The subject area of the School was student science for tourism and hospitality enterprises in the times of epidemiological challenges. Representatives of the Department and the Student Research Society spoke about modern methodological approaches to research, shared their experience of speaking at conferences, seminars, Academic Olympiads and other scientific events, answered questions about the rules for structuring works, submitting applications for participation in grants and international conferences.

Of course, the participants of the event discussed the issue which currently has become the key topic, i. e., the condition of the industry in the context of a near-total freeze of tourist activity. Speakers noted that, according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), 100% of the world’s countries had restricted tourism activities in one way or another, while 72% of countries have closed their borders for visitors.

Igor Kozlov, a representative of the tourism industry, presented his vision, stating that the tourism and hospitality sector initially experienced a shock when the world and Russia froze in anticipation, and nobody had any idea what to do next. However, according to his forecasts, people would still go on holiday this year, which will be in the period from July to September. First of all, tourists will opt for domestic destinations, including the Krasnodar Region, the Crimea, the Caucasian Mineral Waters region, and the Altai.

In conclusion, the participants of the School were reminded of the well-known truth that crises are also opportunities, and after a fall, growth is to be expected.

A total of 79 students of the first and second year of bachelor’s degree, as well as the first and second year of master’s degree took part in the School.
