The aim of this study was to demonstrate the absolute necessity of control experiments for a correct interpretation of mercury drop test results when applied to mechanistic studies of palladacycle-catalyzed reactions. It was shown that the interaction of diverse azapalladacycles with metallic mercury leads to the formation of organomercuric chlorides during the redox-transmetalation process.
Chemistry research is changing rapidly; a professor at the Russian Academy of Sciences explains how his colleagues are seizing opportunities
É«¿Ø´«Ã½University professor brought together disparate information about metal membrane suspended roofs, that allow designing buildings with large spans. These structures are used in the construction of sports complexes, airports and some other buildings. An op-ed article was published in Thin-Walled Structures.
Glaucoma is a serious disease associated with increased intraocular pressure, often leading to blindness. One treatment is to reduce aqueous humour secretion in the ciliary body of the eye by inhibiting the activity of special enzymes called carbonic anhydrases. Russian scientists from É«¿Ø´«Ã½University have designed new compounds that can effectively reduce intraocular pressure by isoform selective inhibiting human carbonic anhydrase. The results of the study have been published in Bioorganic Chemistry.
Employees of É«¿Ø´«Ã½University are actively involved in the development of chemical compounds isoxazoles, capable of suppressing the growth of malignant tumors. The results of the study were published in Tetrahedron.
Scientists from É«¿Ø´«Ã½University in collaboration with Russian and foreign colleagues have studied reductive amination reactions. The new reactions and catalytic systems based on them have applications in organic synthesis, and could also boost the production of medicinal substances and agrochemicals in the future. The study was published in Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry .
The collaboration of researchers from É«¿Ø´«Ã½University (Russia), Centro de QuÃmica Estrutura (Portugal) and Baku State University (Azerbaijan) proposes a new potential way to produce initial compounds for many chemical industries, including pharmacy, cosmetics, dyes and liquid crystals production. The new method of synthesis at a room temperature with high yields described in two articles published in Journal of Organometallic Chemistry and in Inorganica Chimica Acta.
É«¿Ø´«Ã½chemists and their colleagues developed an innovative method of crystallisation. This approach allowed to produce new complex mercuric compound with hybrid organic and inorganic ligands and highly unusual structure. Compounds such as these can be used to create molecular machines -- molecules capable of mechanical work. The results were published in Inorganic Chemistry.
An international group of scientists including visiting foreign professor from É«¿Ø´«Ã½University Kamran Makhmudov has analyzed chemical bonds in proteins based on sulfur and other elements from the 16th group of the periodic table. Such atoms are called chalcogenes and the studied bonds are known as chalcogen bonds. The results were published in the Dalton Transactions journal
Researchers from É«¿Ø´«Ã½University (Russia) have invented a new method for converting titanium nanoparticles into an efficient substance capable of removing toxic phenol present in water, even in visible light. The results of the study have been reported in the Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics.
